Batumi: Russian as a Second Language
In Batumi, Georgia, an intensive and supportive environment for Russian language study is paired with home stay to provide you with an immersive language and cultural experience. Out-of-classroom experiences as well as special lectures and workshops will give you a chance to use the Russian language you are studying while introducing you to local Georgian identity, history, and current issues in contemporary Georgia.
Batumi is a popular seaside resort that caters mostly to Russian-speaking vacationers. The city is marked by its unique cusine, lush surrounding nature, and facinating history.
Courses
All SRAS Russian as a Second Language programs aim to immerse you in the language with a combination of classroom hours, peer tutoring (conversation partners), and other out-of-classroom experiences.RUSS 101-102/201-202/301-302-303/401 Russian Language Study
Small, intensive classes focus on reading, writing, grammar, speaking, comprehension, and phonetics for 20 hours per week.

Housing and Location
--HousingIn Batumi you will stay with a host family, which includes two meals per day. Homestays are 10-50 minutes away from classes by public transport. Homestays in Batumi vary, sometimes housing you with a family and sometimes with a single, older person. In all cases, however, your host(s) will be experienced and ready to include you in coversations and daily life. Home stays are a phenomenal way to boost your Russian language and immerse yourself in the local culture.

Novamova is a private language school founded in 2001. Novamova is a modern school using innovative and immersive teaching methods. The school actively combines intensive classroom training with hands-on, practical usage through conversation partners, various masterclasses, discussion groups, film and literature clubs, and more. Novamova has quickly developed a strong international reputation and partners directly with a number of well-known American universities and educational organizations. Based in Kyiv, NovaMova leads educational programming throughout Ukraine, Georgia, Armenia, Azerbaijan, and Moldova.

Batumi has long been a popular regional vacation spot. Here, you'll find mostly Russian speakers populating the beaches and wide pedestrian boulevards. You'll also find many other regional cultures including Turkic and Arabic speakers that take advantage of Georgia's California-like seaside resort. Likewise, the city is dotted with tsarist, soviet, and modern constructions, adding visible layers to the city's history. The surrounding hills of Batumi are surrounded with lush nature and ancient history which are easily accessible via car or taxi.
Transcripts and Credit Transfer
This program is hosted by NovaMova Language School in cooperation with SRAS. The School of Record is Stetson University (Florida, USA).Credit transfer to your home institution is usually possible. A US School of Record means that your program is supported by and documented by an accredited US university, making credit transfer relatively routine.

You may take classes with other U.S. students, international students, or students from the host country. Many affiliates provide special services such as visa support, housing, cultural excursions, and on-site staffing to help you navigate your host country.

- Submit your Applications. You will submit TWO Applications for this Program. These Applications can be completed at the same time.
- U of U Application- Click Apply Now at the top of your screen to get started
- Affiliate Application- Click on the Homepage link above to find your Affiliate Application. Contact the Affiliate if you have questions.
- Commit to your U of U Application. You will receive an acceptance email to your Umail account. Log into your U of U Application and Commit to your Program within 3 business days of acceptance!
- Complete the Post-Decision Steps. Finish the Post-Decision steps in your U of U Application by the deadlines provided.
