Faculty
The staff at Fundación Ortega-Marañon provide housing, classroom space, and study areas. They also arrange the on-site orientation and program excursions, as well as social and cultural events.
Professor Jonathan Gewirtz will teach Introduction to Biological Psychology during the summer program. Professor Gewirtz studies the behavior of rats and mice to uncover the cellular, molecular, and genetic machinery underlying drug addiction and the experience of emotion.
Ksenija Jovanovic from the Fundación Ortega-Marañon will teach the Research Laboratory in Psychology course during the summer and semester programs. Ksenija has a PhD in Neuroscience.

About This Program
This program is geared toward Bachelor of Arts (BA) and Bachelor of Science (BS) Psychology majors and minors.
- During the semester program, participate in research and take courses that can fulfill psychology degree requirements: Abnormal Psychology, Cross-Cultural Psychology, Health Psychology, Human Neuroanatomy, Introduction to Biological Psychology, Psychology in the Workplace, and Sensation and Perception.
- During the six-week summer program, take courses that can fulfill psychology BA/BS requirements: Cross-Cultural Psychology, Introduction to Biological Psychology, Psychology in the Workplace, and Research Laboratory in Psychology.
- During the semester program, you have the option to take beginning or intermediate-level Spanish language as well as English-taught courses that cover a range of topics.
- You may also take English-taught courses at the Universidad Carlos III de Madrid in communication, engineering, or health sciences.
This program is offered in partnership with the prestigious Fundación Ortega–Marañon in Madrid and the University of Minnesota's Department of Psychology. The Fundación is located in the central part of Madrid, near Paseo de la Castellana. Due to its location, it is easy to catch public transportation to any other part of the city.
Housing
The standard program fee includes living with a Spanish family (homestay). Summer students have the option to live in student dormitories.
Excursions
A walking tour of Madrid will help you learn how to get around the city and also familiarize you with some of Madrid's iconic landmarks. Day excursions to places such as Alcalá de Henares, El Escorial, and Toledo, as well as a three-day excursion to other parts of Spain, are included in the program fee.

WHAT IS AN AFFILIATE?
An Affiliate is a partner organization that is evaluated and approved by the University of Utah. Affiliates offer classes in both English and the host language. You may take classes with other U.S. students, international students, or students from the host country. - Submit your Applications. You will submit TWO Applications for this Program. These Applications can be completed at the same time.

- Commit to your U of U Application. You will receive an acceptance email to your Umail account. Log into your U of U Application and Commit to your Program within 3 business days of acceptance!
- Complete the Post-Decision Steps. Finish the Post-Decision steps in your U of U Application by the deadlines provided.
