NOTE: Dates are subject to change. Some programs may start earlier for orientation and end later for final exams than the approximate dates listed. All dates and acceptance status MUST be verified with the host institution/affiliate BEFORE any travel arrangements are made. Participants are responsible for arranging travel to and from the program location and should wait to purchase airfare until they have been officially instructed by the Faculty Director, Affiliate, and/or Host University about the final program dates.

Kinesiology and Health: Study and Intern Semester with University of Western Australia in Perth with TEAN

Program Overview

  • Take three courses at the University of Western Australia (UWA), the oldest and top-ranked university in Western Australia, where you'll learn from some of the country's best academics in the fields of kinesiology and health
  • Undertake an internship for credit that will entail 140 contact hours during the course of the semester
  • Experience living in Perth - a beautiful city with an active outdoor lifestyle and population that is passionate about their sports
  • Participate in TEAN's comprehensive Cairns/Great Barrier Reef Orientation Excursion prior to arriving in Perth. The experience includes a day out on the reef and orientation sessions designed to help you feel adjusted and ready to jump into your semester in Australia
  • Appreciate access to TEAN's Perth Resident Director and other in-country staff for continued support throughout the semester
  • Live on campus in UWA housing with local and other international students to help you truly integrate into Australian life

The Education Abroad Network (TEAN) – established in 1995 – are study abroad and intern specialists in the Asia Pacific region with semester and summer programs available in Australia, New Zealand, Thailand, Singapore, Vietnam, South Korea, China and Japan.

WHAT IS AN AFFILIATE?

An Affiliate is a partner organization that is evaluated and approved by the University of Utah. Affiliates offer classes in both English and the host language. You may take classes with other U.S. students, international students, or students from the host country. Many affiliates provide special services such as visa support, housing, cultural excursions, and on-site staffing to help you navigate your host country.

APPLYING TO AN AFFILIATE PROGRAM

  1. Complete Learning Abroad 101. This is a short information session about programs, applications, financial aid, and scholarships. You can complete Learning Abroad 101 in-person or online.
  2. Submit your Applications. You will submit TWO Applications for this Program. These Applications can be completed at the same time.
    • U of U Application- Click Apply Now at the top of your screen to get started and submit the Initial Payment.
    • Affiliate Application- Click on the Homepage link above to find your Affiliate Application. Contact the Affiliate if you have questions.
  3. Commit to your U of U Application. You will receive an acceptance email to your Umail account. Log into your U of U Application and Commit to your Program within 3 business days of acceptance!
  4. Upload your Affiliate Acceptance Letter. When you receive your acceptance letter from the Affiliate, upload a copy in your U of U Application.
  5. Complete the Post-Decision Steps. Finish the Post-Decision steps in your U of U Application by the deadlines provided.

  • TENTATIVE dates are listed above. Compare the dates to the University of Utah academic calendar to avoid scheduling conflicts.
  • You are responsible for arranging transportation to and from the host country for most Programs.
  • Do not purchase your flight until you read the instructions in the Learning Abroad Handbook.

PROGRAM ADVISING

  • Program advising is available through our Learning Abroad Coordinators.
  • You will automatically be assigned to a Coordinator when you start your U of U Application. Coordinators are assigned based on your major.
  • You must complete Learning Abroad 101 before meeting with a Coordinator.
