Program Description:

Summer School: USYD
DESCRIPTION

  • Each unit of study is taught in an intensive format, while maintaining credit point values and academic integrity. Students can choose 1 or 2 units of study in either session, one of which can be a credit-bearing internship. 
  • Welcome and Departure events
  • Social program: "Learn to surf" camp, koala experience, trivia nights, etc.

APPLYING To A U Summer Program

  1. Complete Learning Abroad 101. This is a short information session about programs, applications, financial aid, and scholarships.  You can complete Learning Abroad 101 online.
  2. Pre-approve your courses through your U of U application. 
  3. Submit your Applications. You will submit TWO Applications for this Program.  These Applications can be completed at the same time.
    • U of U Application- Click Apply Now at the top of your screen to get started.
    • USYD Application- Click on the Homepage link above to start your U Summer application. 
  4. Commit to your U of U Application.  You will receive an acceptance email to your Umail account. Log into your U of U Application and Commit to your Program within 3 business days of acceptance!
  5. Complete Post-Decision Steps. Finish the Post-Decision steps in your U of U Application by the deadlines provided.

ACADEMICS & ACCOMMODATION

  • Courses and accommodation are organized by USYD (Click on the Homepage link above)
  • Credits earned through a U Summer Program will be transfer credits
  • See the Learning Abroad Handbook, for information about Course Pre-Approval for transfer credits
  • Participants must earn credit and are required to meet course enrollment requirements set by the U Summer program 

DATES

  • Find TENTATIVE program dates above
  • Participants are responsible for arranging travel to and from the host country for most programs
  • Participants should wait to purchase airfare until they have been officially accepted into the program
  • Participants should compare the program dates to the University of Utah academic calendar

FINANCES

  • Scholarships and Financial Aid may be available!  Visit our Financial Aid and Scholarships page for more information!
  • Contact the Office of Scholarships and Financial Aid to determine if your financial aid and scholarships can be applied to your Learning Abroad program
  • U Summer Program Fees are paid directly to USYD 
  • Read the full Withdrawal Penalty Policy BEFORE applying

  • Program advising is available through Navigate U 
  • Please schedule an appointment with an Exchange Coordinator
  • You must complete Learning Abroad 101 before meeting with a Coordinator

LEARNING ABROAD HANDBOOK

The Learning Abroad Handbook outlines the University of Utah's eligibility requirements, financial policies, conduct standards, administrative procedures, academic expectations, as well as visa and passport guidelines for Learning Abroad Programs. ALL participants are subject to the rules and regulations in the Learning Abroad Handbook. It is every participant's responsibility to read the Learning Abroad Handbook and contact Learning Abroad with any questions.

It is your responsibility to read, understand, and adhere to the terms and conditions of your Program.  Terms and conditions are outlined in the Learning Abroad Handbook, Learning Abroad website, and in your Program Application.  Terms and conditions may also be communicated to you through digital, verbal, and hard copy communication.  Contact Learning Abroad with any questions or concerns.
