NOTE: Dates are subject to change. Students must arrive in the host city and check into the program housing on the program start date. The program officially ends on the end date, and students must check out of the housing facilities at that time. Learning Abroad 101, Pre-Departure Orientation, Participation Requirements for Learning Abroad, Post-Decision Health Assessment, Pre & Post Commitments
Study the fundamentals of cinematography and sound, including the use of camera composition, location recording, and editing. The coursework allows students to capture and organize what they observe and challenges them to present their findings in multimedia. Cefalù, in Sicily, Italy provides students with a unique opportunity to experience a foreign culture, describe it, and understand the intercultural dialogue of the modern world.
Available credit(s): 4-8 undergraduate credits or 5 graduate credits

The Learning Abroad Badges listed in the Fact Sheet above are included in this program. Some programs offer opportunities to earn additional Learning Abroad Badges through independent options. Students interested in earning multiple Learning Abroad Badges can participate in the Global U Program and receive special recognition at graduation.
This program automatically earns the Career Development and Research Experience Badges:
Students work on teams as a film crew, conduct interviews, and learn to operate film equipment. Each student creates a film based on a chosen topic that is screened for the community at the end of the program.
This experience will provide valuable insights that can be highlighted on resumes and during job interviews.
Students create a professional film based on a chosen theme.
This film can serve as part of a thesis portfolio for graduate school or a reel for job applications.
Students will present their work in a public forum in Italy and have the opportunity to submit to festivals and additional screening opportunities. Honors students may use Film 3945 to create an undergraduate thesis project.
